First day of VBS

Here we are reviewing the morning session with the kids. Afternoon was less formal recreation time. Several of the kids suffered from separation anxiety, but we made it through the morning. There was one point after Susan and I had been playing dualing Jonathan (Yonathan - he's Dutch), I had to just pray for God to comfort him - there was nothing I could do to stop his continuous screaming for his mom. A little while later he fell asleep on Susan's lap, and she stayed with him in that room. The amazing thing is after the session he walked his Dad around and showed him what everyone did - the puppets, the welcome mats, despite screaming nearly the whole time. Relationships are being built – I remember this one girl Jessica who last night couldn’t look at Mr. Joe, but today asked me for a pink marker, and next thing I know she’s writing Tessa (another classmate) on her welcome mat, followed by Mr. Joe. Guess I’m not as scary as I was last night.

Continue praying for Becky - we never saw her today, but she is rumored to be a little better.
